Although San Benito’s top two doubles teams remained undefeated on the year Tuesday, the Balers boys as a team were unable to upset Salinas at the Ridgemark Golf and Country in Tri-County Athletic League action.

The Cowboys, the defending league champs, swept the singles portion en route to a 5-2 victory.

The loss drops the Balers to 2-3 on the season, 1-2 in the TCAL.

San Benito’s No. 1 doubles team of Kyle Skinner and Eric Johnson, and its No. 2 doubles team in Sunny Singh and Brian Becerra, each remained undefeated Tuesday by topping their respective opponents.

Skinner and Johnson beat Aaron Moss and Michael Liu 7-6, 6-4, while Singh and Becerra dispatched Matt Perlman and Alex Wolf by the same margin, 7-6, 6-4.

However, Salinas earned victories in the remaining five matches, including a sweep through singles.

At No. 1, Cowboy Sebastian Pagano defeated Jacob Garcia 6-3, 6-2; Ty Giacalone beat Nick Trillo 6-0, 6-2; Jeff Reeves upended Alex Reilly 6-4, 6-2; and Tyler Batchelder quieted Geoff Muzik 7-6, 6-0.

At No. 3 doubles, Salinas’ David Sayas and Joe Brigantino defeated brothers Panger — Jacob and Andrew — 6-4, 6-1.

The Balers will return to the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club on Thursday when they will host Gilroy at 4 p.m.
