Although it recorded four Central Coast Section qualifying times, the San Benito High swim team dropped its season opener to Valley Christian on Thursday in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
The Baler boys fell 100-66, while the Baler girls lost 98-72.
Still, four CCS times were reached by San Benito, including a pair by sophomore Czsarina Isleta.

Isleta, who earned CCS times in each event a year ago, qualified to the year-end section meet on Thursday in the 50 free and 100 breast. Isleta recorded a 25.22 in the 50 free and a 1:10.03 in the 100 breast.
Additionally, the San Benito girls’ 200 medley relay posted a CCS-qualifying time as well when it recorded a 1:53.56.
Meanwhile, on the boys side, Baler Quinn Six qualified toward CCS when he swum a 22.77 in the 50 free.
San Benito will look to rebound as a team, as well as continue to set CCS times, at next week’s Tri-County Athletic League opener when it will visit Hartnell College in Salinas to take on Palma and Notre Dame.
