The county woman accused of shooting and killing her 19-month-old daughter in November 2008 is set for a pre-trial court appearance next week, according to records.
A trial date is scheduled on Nov. 28 for accused child killer Cheryl Busch – nearly three years after she was arrested on accusations she shot and killed her child. Busch has a pre-trial conference set for 9 a.m. Aug. 18, next Thursday, in room 101 at the San Benito County Courthouse before Judge Steven Sanders.
The trial previously was postponed after Busch was found unfit for it. She was admitted to Patton State Hospital on March 24, 2010. After nine months, the mental hospital ruled she fit for trial. The criminal proceedings were restarted in March after Sanders ruled her competent.
Busch is accused of shooting and killing her daughter with a .357 Magnum that was found at the scene. On a transcript of the 911 call made after the incident, Busch told a dispatcher she killed her daughter.
If convicted of homicide, Busch could face 25 years to life in prison.
