Anzar’s Kelsey Robledo outscored Anchorpoint Christian all by herself Tuesday night as the visiting Hawks upended the Warriors 47-16 in Coastal Athletic League action in Gilroy.
Robledo finished with 17 points, six rebounds and six steals to lead the Hawks, who improve to 2-1 in the CAL, 4-8 overall.
“We missed some shots and the defense intensity wasn’t up to where it should be,” Anzar head coach Mike Bonomi said. “But we started turning it on when we pressed.”
The Hawks opened up their press in the second quarter. Clinging to a 10-8 lead, Anzar managed to outscore Anchorpoint 13-4 in the second quarter and take a 23-12 cushion to the break.
In the second half, the Hawks outscored the Warriors 24-4.
Delaney McKinney delivered an all-around performance for Anzar when she finished with six points, seven rebounds, five steals and two blocks. Melissa Weckerle had eight points, Britteny Doty added six, while Sabrina Gonzalez had four points and five rebounds.
Each member of the Hawks recorded a basket on Tuesday night.
Anzar will be back in action on Thursday when it will host York in San Juan Bautista at 5:30 p.m.
