The Anzar boys soccer team remains in search of its first win after suffering a 6-0 loss to Pacific Grove on Thursday in the Coastal Athletic League opener.

The Breakers, considered to be the favorite in the CAL this season, held a 2-0 lead at halftime.

“We were holding up really well,” Anzar head coach Jeremiah Martinez said. “But they have a really great team this year.”

Anzar is now 0-1 in the CAL, 0-5 overall. Pacific Grove, which pocketed its first goal in the 10th minute and never looked back, improves to 1-0 in league, 5-1-1.

“It was pretty evenly matched at the start of the game, but they just broke our defense and started to figure us out,” Martinez said.

The Hawks are off until Wednesday when they will host York in San Juan Bautista at 3:30 p.m.
