PACIFIC GROVE

Trailing 1-0 for much of the game, the Anzar Hawks had several chances to score the equalizer but couldn’t find the back of the net against host Pacific Grove on Monday, and lost by a 2-0 margin.

The Breakers took an early lead when Luke Oh assisted Eli Miller in the 12th minute to give Pacific Grove a 1-0 edge. The score held for nearly the remainder of the game when PG’s Daniel Nicolas made it a two-goal game at around the 80th minute, Anzar head coach Jeremiah Martinez said.

In between the Breakers’ two goals, though, the Hawks had plenty of chances to get on the scoreboard, but couldn’t take advantage.

“An extreme amount of chances,” Martinez said. “We had a lot of opportunities. We just didn’t take advantage of them.

“It was a good game, though.”

Anzar keeper Damien Sowdeneko made 10 saves, Martinez added.

The Hawks are now 0-3-1 in the Coastal Athletic League and 0-7-1 overall.

The team’s scheduled game against Trinity Christian on Tuesday will be held at Cal State University — Monterey Bay at 3:30 p.m.
