Class donates to Red Cross

The Leadership Class of Erica Robledo Dickens at Rancho San Justo Middle School, in Hollister spearheaded a fundraising effort for the American Red Cross International Response Fund to assist the relief effort in Haiti.

Students, staff and parents participated in the “Dollar Drive for Haiti.”

Aaron Martinez, Associated Student Body vice president, presented funds totaling more than $950 to Hollister resident and American Red Cross Gift Planning Manager Kathleen Wright. The Leadership Class invited Wright to share how funds are being used in Haiti and now Chile, and at other locations around the world through the International Services arm of the American Red Cross. Gifts made to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund and to the local Monterey Bay Area Chapter are used to assist those in need here in the United States including our local communities. Students were encouraged to become youth volunteers for the Red Cross and many will be participating in CPR on Saturday. For more information on the Red Cross, see www.arcmontereybay.org
