Former county Supervisor Ron Rodrigues was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, jail personnel confirmed when reached Sunday.
Rodrigues, 77, was pulled over at Cienega Road and Monte Bello Court just outside of Hollister, according to records. He was booked into the San Benito County Jail at 10:08 p.m., according to jail personnel.
Rodrigues when reached at home Sunday reacted by calling it a “goofy mistake” and he declined to comment further.
It is unclear what tests may have shown regarding a blood-alcohol level.
Rodrigues served three terms on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors as the District 4 representative, from 1990 to 2002.
He is the father of former sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Rodrigues, who was sentenced in November to 60 years to life in prison for raping three women.
