The San Benito County Public Health Department in partnership with First 5 San Benito Children and Families Commission will provide families of San Benito County with opportunities to receive free 2009 H1N1 vaccinations. The risk that the 2009 H1N1 virus affects young people more than seasonal influenza has directed the vaccination outreach toward San Benito County preschool and kindergarten campuses.

The next flu clinic will be May 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 1011 Line St. Room No. 9, and it will be the final clinic. Vaccines will be administered to children ages 6 to 5 years as well as their families at no cost.

“Getting vaccinated is the single best way for parents to protect not only themselves against flu, but their children and loved ones as well,” said Lisa Faulkner, the First 5 H1N1 coordinator.

In addition, the H1N1 vaccine is still available by calling the SBC Public Health Department, at 637-5367 to schedule an appointment.
