Little Leaguers from San Benito County will kick off district tournament play this weekend, as those players from Hollister will open the District 9 All-Star Tournament and players from San Juan Bautista and Aromas will commence play in the District 39 All-Star Tournament.

The four teams that represent Hollister in the 9- and 10-year-old division will open tournament play first. With Hollister American 2 enjoying a first-round bye — it won’t open play until Tuesday — Hollister American 1, Hollister National 1 and Hollister National 2 will all kick off the all-star postseason on Saturday.

Hollister National 1 will open against Greenfield on Saturday in King City, and, with a win, would advance to the second round against Hollister American 2.

Meanwhile, the Major Division will open play on Sunday, with Hollister American squaring off against Atlantic at Hartnell, and Hollister National facing off against Greenfield at Ferrasci.

Both the Junior Division and the 10- and 11-year-old division will commence on Monday. Hollister’s one-and-only team in the Junior Division will open against Gonzales in North County, while the 10- and 11-year-olds of Hollister American will open against Continental in Gonzales.

The 10- and 11-year-olds of Hollister National received a first-round bye, and won’t open until Wednesday against the Atlantic/Hartnell winner.

In District 39, the San Juan Aromas all-stars of the Major Division will open tournament play on Saturday against Aptos, and will play again on Tuesday against Scotts Valley, on Friday against Santa Cruz American, and on the following Tuesday, July 6, against Watsonville American.

The 10- and 11-year-old all-stars will compete in a similar pool-play format. San Juan Aromas will open play on Monday against Capitola/Soquel, and will play again on Wednesday against Live Oak, on Friday against Scotts Valley, and on the following Monday, July 5, against Santa Cruz National.

The 7- and 8-year-old all-stars of San Juan Aromas will open with bracketed play Saturday against Aptos in Watsonville.
