A suspect wearing a “Jason” mask robbed a gas station of money and lottery tickets Saturday before police arrested him, authorities alleged.
At about 2 p.m. Saturday, police arrested Hollister’s Ramiro Ramos, 20, for robbery and resisting arrest charges after a robbery at City Gas on San Felipe Road.
Authorities arrested the suspect at nearby Jerry’s Restaurant after responding and getting a description of him. They alleged he wore a mask like the one worn in the Friday the 13th movie series and that he demanded lottery tickets along with cash.
According to a police report released Monday:
Officers responded to City Gas at Third St and San Benito for a report of an in-progress robbery. The suspect was described as wearing a Halloween-type mask, described as a Jason hockey goalie mask from the “Friday the 13th” movies. The suspect was reported to have entered the business and told the occupants he had a gun in his waist band. He demanded money from the register and later demanded lottery tickets. The clerk complied and the suspect left.
Hollister police officers were in the area at the time of the 911 call to dispatch for this incident. Officers responded to the area, with the suspect’s description. Officers located the suspect near Jerry’s restaurant approximately one block north from the original crime scene. The suspect initially resisted arrest however, after a short struggle was placed into custody and eventually booked into San Benito County Jail.
A large sum of currency and lottery tickets were located on the suspect’s person. The mask and related items used during the crime were located nearby location where the suspect was arrested.
