Happy belated Valentines Day everyone. I hope you all remembered your Valentine’s over the weekend. We’ve been so busy around here lately that the day came and went for us. Besides Valentine’s Day, there were lots of birthdays to be celebrated and lots of basketball taking place last week as well.

Birthday wishes go out to Guy and Rhett Falsey who both celebrated birthdays last week. Kelly hosted a surprise birthday party for Guy at their home last Friday night. Larry Reeves celebrated his 18th birthday last Sunday and Todd Sans celebrated his birthday on the 16th.

The Lady Mustangs basketball team stumbled a little bit last Thursday night as they traveled to Pebble Beach to take on their rivals, the Lady Pirates. The Pirates were looking for revenge as our Mustangs ended their 27-game winning streak earlier in the year. Stevenson came out on fire and never let up the entire game. As I watched them in pre-game warm ups, I thought we might be in a little trouble as they never missed a shot and they were definitely fired up. Our girls held their own, but couldn’t come up with the win. The loss gives the Mustangs a 10-2 record in league, which ties them for first once again with Catalina. This week, the girls will play at home against Carmel on Tuesday. Then they travel to Soledad on Thursday for their final league game of the year.

The California High School Rodeo Association, District 4, hosted a multi-district high school rodeo over the weekend at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. The weather actually held out and didn’t rain a whole lot over the weekend but it was definitely cold and windy. Some of those kids competing from our area included Rex Clark, Sierra Jo Sans, Megan and Kist Melton, Blaine and Blair Stroh and Courtnee Bowers, just to name a few.

Many King City High School kids attended the Winter Ball last Saturday night at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. Many limos were in town as several kids hired limos to take them to dinner before the ball. Sierra Jo had a busy day as she competed in the rodeo during the day, then, had to hustle home to shower and clean up before the ball. She was one lucky lady as she had two dates for the dance! She attended the ball with her good friends Larry Reeves and Todd Danes. Todd’s parents, Dave and Mary prepared a delicious candlelight dinner for them before the ball. They all had a great time and danced the night away.

The weather is going to be wet and wild this week. We lost power Sunday night into Monday morning and it is really wet. We’re in for more rain this week.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
