Three Hollister women and three Hollister girls experienced moderate injuries after the car they were in ran off U.S. 101 in Gilroy and rolled over.

At 10:43 a.m. Saturday, 42-year-old Carolina Castellanos was driving northbound on the highway in a 1998 Ford Windstar with five passengers on a cloudy but dry day, according to the California Highway Patrol. Castellanos was driving in the middle lane at a speed unknown to CHP when she made an unsafe turn to the right.

The car ran through the right lane and right shoulder, then overturned and came to rest on its left side in a ditch, according to CHP. The five passengers were able to get out or be removed from the vehicle, but Castellanos had to be extricated from the van. All occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities. Castellanos was flown by helicopter.

The five passengers in the van were 20-year-old Magda Pulido, 18-year-old Carolina Renteria, 15-year-old Bertha Renteria, 14-year-old Rosa Renteria and 12-year-old Adriana Montoya.
