A car’s front bumper struck a 13-year-old pedestrian walking across the street at Buena Vista and Westside roads on Monday, while the driver proceeded to flee the scene after failing to yield the right of way to the resident, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol.

The minor, who suffered minor injuries with swelling and bruising to the left knee, reported the hit-and-run accident to authorities shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the CHP, the unknown driver had been northbound on Westside Road approaching Buena Vista and failed to stop in time before hitting the pedestrian, who had been walking westbound on Buena Vista Road.
