Another win. Another sweep.

The San Benito High boys volleyball team made it a perfect 6-0 in Tri-County Athletic League play on Thursday night when it downed host Palma 25-13, 25-18, 25-17 for their sixth straight league sweep.

Adrian Rodriguez provided 33 assists, with Roy Powell the main beneficiary with 10 kills. Erik Rodriguez and Brian Hawks added nine and five kills, respectively, while both Powell and Jakob Rice each contributed two blocks apiece.

“My boys did well,” San Benito head coach Luis Espinoza said.

“They just wanted to play and have fun and that’s what they did.”

The ‘Balers have won each of their six league matches to date by 3-0 margins, with only next Tuesday’s match at Watsonville standing in San Benito’s way of a perfect first half to the TCAL schedule.

The second half of the league season will begin on April 16 at Alisal.

“I think what matters to them is that as long as they win their three games, we’ll be all right,” Espinoza said. “We’re almost halfway through our season, and it feels pretty good.”

Defensively, Adrian Rodriguez supplied nine digs and Danny Ruiz added eight, while Powell led the ‘Balers with five service aces. Ruiz and Michael Gonzales added four and three aces, respectively.

San Benito will return to the court Tuesday at Watsonville at 6:30 p.m.
