Members of Mainstreet Kickboxing train in the new MMA fighting ring Tuesday evening.

If you’ve ever watched a mixed martial arts fight on TV and
wondered what it might feel like to get in the Octagon, now you
have the chance to actually do it. Responding to the growing
popularity of MMA nationwide and locally, Main Street Kickboxing in
Hollister recently expanded to accommodate a growing demand and now
features an octagon cage.
The training center at 401 Hillcrest Road already had a
full-size boxing ring. While expanding from 3,000 square feet to
4,500 square feet by leasing an additional bay in the building,
Main Street added the octagon, treadmills and an additional area
for strength training. It also doubled its overall mat size. Owner
Ralph Kelly, whose son Danny is the head trainer, said they offer
everything seen in the Ultimate Fighting Championship format and he
noted how they offer classes to kids ages 4 to 12 as well.

People like the cage,

he said.

We keep getting sign-ups all the time.
