Between 10:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. today, an unknown male and female forced their way into a residence on the 800 block of Fourth Street after brandishing a gun. They stole money and jewelry before escaping.

The duo came to the residence Tuesday morning, knocked on the door and talked to the resident about buying bibles, police said. The homeowner said she wasn’t interested, and one of the two pulled out a handgun and demanded to come inside. Once inside, the duo demanded cash and jewelry from the resident, police reported.

After getting a “large sum of money and personal jewelry,” the two fled the scene in what Hollister Police Sergeant Ray Wood called a silver blue or silver green full-sized van. The two are still at large.

“(We) don’t know how they picked this house,” he said.

Around 11:45 a.m., police were still on the scene questioning neighbors whether they saw anything suspicious.

Police said they will have more information about the robbery by this afternoon.
