Anzar High School student Alex Albertson attended a reception at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he and other Central Coast students met Congressman Sam Farr.

Admittance to military academies requires a nomination from a local Congress person.

With an outstanding transcript and numerous extracurricular activities, demonstrated his abilities at Anzar High School, in San Juan Bautista. according to a press release from Farr’s office. Alberson holds numerous academic awards, as well as proof of his tremendous leadership capacities outside of the classroom. During his high school career, he was a member of the California Scholarship Foundation, participated in Student Government, was a member of Venture Crew 568, and there completed a defensive handgun course. In 2008, he earned his Student Pilot Certificate with 20 hours of flight time.

Other students nominated and accepted to military academies were invited to attend the June 1 reception. They include Paul Dehue of Carmel High School (Air Force Academy; Ryan Evans of Aptos High School (Air Force Academy); Phillip Giammanco of York School (Naval Academy); Tyler Hand of York School (Merchant Marine Academy); Kayla Harvey of Monterey High School (Air Force Academy); Anne Lee of Stevenson School (West Point); Patrick Mcmillan of Bellarmine College Preparatory (West Point); Grant Randall of Pacific Grove High School (Merchant Marine Academy); Benjamin Schmidt of Monterey High School (Naval Academy); and Shannon Welch of Carmel High School (West Point).
