For the second time in a month, a purse was snatched from a Safeway customer in the store’s parking lot.

The latest strong-arm robbery occurred about 5:50 p.m. Saturday at the grocery store at 650 Tennant Station, police said. A 39-year-old Morgan Hill woman was pushing a shopping cart toward the store when an unknown man ran up from behind and grabbed her purse, which was inside the cart, according to Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.

The man ran to a nearby car occupied by an awaiting driver and passenger. The purse snatcher entered the car and the driver fled toward the intersection of Tennant Avenue and U.S. 101. Two witnesses who saw the robbery followed the suspects in their vehicle, but lost sight of the getaway car near Condit Road, Neumayer said.

Anyone with information about either crime may call Morgan Hill Police at (408) 779-2101, or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867.
