The Anzar High girls volleyball team lost in four games (20-25,
25-16, 17-25, 15-25) to host King City last Thursday.

The Anzar High girls volleyball team split a pair of matches last week with King City and Stevenson. The Hawks lost in four games (20-25, 25-16, 17-25, 15-25) to host King City last Thursday, but swept host Stevenson in three games (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) on Friday night.
Anzar is now 9-11 overall and 4-5 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Alex Flores led the Hawks in both contests, compiling seven kills, five blocks and 21 digs against King City and 11 kills and a pair of aces against Stevenson. Camille Merz had a combined 14 kills in two matches, while Carly Johnson, who was out of the lineup against Stevenson, recorded 12 digs and 21 assists against King City.
Viri Rios came off the bench for Anzar on Friday night against Stevenson and provided 22 digs.
“It was Viri’s best game of the season,” Anzar head coach Jennifer Daughenbaugh said.
The Hawks will return home to San Juan Bautista on Tuesday when they host Carmel at 6 p.m.
