Ron Ross named permanent ag commissoner
HOLLISTER
– The San Benito County Board of Supervisors appointed Ron Ross
as the new county agricultural commissioner and sealer of weights
and measures at its Nov. 3 meeting. Ross, who had been serving as
acting commissioner since the death of Paul Matulich in September,
was endorsed by the San Benito Coun
ty Farm Bureau.
Ross served as the deputy agricultural commissioner since March
2006. He has more than 21 years of experience with the commissioner
as an agricultural biologist inspector II, III and a senior
agricultural biologist inspector. He passed the California
Department of Food and Agricultural exam as a county agricultural
commissioner in 1999.
After receiving is college degree in agricultural business
management at the University of Florida, he worked for JG Bosewell
Company in the San Joaquin Valley, and later with Farm Credit
Services before joining the San Benito ag commissioner’s
office.
Ross is active in the Hollister Kiwanis Club, the Condor Classic
and serves on the board of directors of the San Benito Agricultural
Land Trust.

San Benito High School will be hosting a career fair at the campus, 1220 Monterey St., in Hollister, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Employers and college recruiters are invited to participate in the career fair.
