The Anzar Hawks received a pair of double-double performances from Erik Olson and Steven Mockabee Friday night, and upended host Soledad 58-55 in overtime.

Olson had 28 points and 23 rebounds, and added seven assists, five blocks and two steals on the night. Mockabee had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and supplied six assists and six steals.

“Olson was a big presence on the inside, and Steven was a big outside threat,” coach Ed Cecena said. “They worked together ¬– inside and out. I think that was the difference, just two guys working together.”

Ryan Waller added 10 points for Anzar, which improves to 4-8 in the Mission Trial Athletic League.

The Hawks, which trailed 19-15 after one and 33-31 at the half, didn’t grab hold of a lead until two minutes remaining in regulation.

Although both teams had a chance to win the game at the end of the fourth quarter, it was Anzar that managed to outscore Soledad in the extra period, 8-5.

“We managed to find our offense in overtime and keep them down to pull out the win,” Cecena said. “Our defense, I don’t know what has gotten into them. But they’ve played outstanding defense in the last couple of games.”

Anzar, with just two games remaining, will host Pacific Grove Tuesday in San Juan Bautista. Game time is 7 p.m.
