Hollister and San Benito County officials are set to host a joint meeting to discuss options on a potential sales-tax initiative. San Juan Bautista council members are on board as well.
The special meeting is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday at the supervisors chambers, 481 Fourth St.
Supervisors are exploring options for a possible sales-tax question on a 2016 ballot. They have talked about the possibility of forming some kind of tax-sharing deal with Hollister, which has a 1 percent tax running through the spring of 2018.
The unincorporated parts of the county have a 7.5 percent rate. Hollister has an 8.5 percent rate. And San Juan Bautista has a 8.25 percent tax.
County Administrative Officer Ray Espinosa at Tuesday’s board meeting said San Juan officials are set to take part, while Hollister and county leaders had been previously scheduled to meet on the issue.
