Two “big-rig” diesel trucks slammed into each this morning other on Highway 152 about seven miles northeast of Hollister.

The accident left one driver with minor injuries and spilled highly flammable diesel fuel onto the roadway causing firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers to close the road until the mess could be cleaned up, expected by noon, said Chris Armstrong, spokesman for the CHP’s Gilroy-Hollister office.

One of the trucks was carrying a load of plywood and the other was carrying home improvement supplies.

“The truck carrying the lumber was in the slow lane and attempted to make a U-turn when the driver of the box truck collided with the back of the lumber truck,” Armstrong said.
