Host families needed for band visit

HOLLISTER – The Sedgehill School Concert Band will be visiting California from London, England and one of their stops is Hollister. The band is made up of boys and girls ages 12 to 18 who will be performing throughout Southern California and the Bay Area. Tony Masters, the band founder and director, chose Hollister as the homebase for the Northern California portion of the visit because he is a long-time friend of locals Marge and Dale Yarmuth.

Marge Yarmuth is working with San Benito High School staff to arrange homestays for the students. About half the students and chaperones have been placed, but more homes are needed. The students will be staying April 5 through April 10, leaving early that morning, and the group is asking that two students be assigned per home. Host families provide a place to sleep, breakfast, dinner and a sack lunch for the students’ many day trips. Some of the events include a performance at a San Francisco Giants game April 9, but other performances are still being arranged. For more information on hosting, please call Yarmuth at 902-9212 or e-mail her at mm****@sb*******.net.
