April is Alcohol Awareness Month and the San Benito County Behavioral Health Services’ Substance Abuse Prevention Program will be putting on Beer Goggle Olympics, an event to show the dangers of impaired driving.

The first of several events will be Monday at San Benito County Juvenile Hall, followed by others at San Andreas and Pinnacles high schools.

Hollister police, the California Highway Patrol, the sheriff’s office and the probation department will be taking part in the event on three different days.

Students will wear “Fatal Vision” goggles that allow the person to feel what it’s like when being drunk and trying to do tasks such as walking a straight line, driving a remote-controlled car or shooting a basketball.
