This is one side to the placemat.

Even if beef isn’t for dinner, patrons to local restaurants will get a lesson on its benefits.
The San Benito County CattleWomen’s Association, with help from a Community Foundation for San Benito County grant requiring a partial match, produced 20,000 placemats for use in restaurants to promote the beef industry and county. So far, the group has handed out about 11,000 of the placemats, said Jae Eade, president of the Cattlewomen.
Those placemats—designed by Hollister-based Redbeard Communications—include one side detailing the history of local cattle branding and the flip side offering children’s activities such as coloring, fun facts and a word search.
“We’re promoting the beef industry and we’re promoting San Benito County,” Eade said.
She said some of the restaurants using the placemats include the 19th Hole in Tres Pinos, the Black Bear Diner in Gilroy, Dona Esther and Jardine’s in San Juan Bautista, and Hollister businesses such as Progresso’s Tamale Parlor, La Villa de Jerez, Paine’s Restaurant, Johnny’s Bar & Grill and Country Rose Café. Locations in the county include Dunneville Café & Market and The Grove.
While promoting one of the county’s oldest industry’s, the placemats also offer facts on nutritional benefits of beef—including how its high in protein and a good source for essential B vitamins and iron.
