Is that a gun in your pocket?
Loved the juxtaposition in the Hollister Fifty Cent Lance of
Miss San Benito Rodeo Queen and her beautiful court facing on the
next page the mugs of San Benito County Sheriff’s Department most
wanted.
Rodeo Queen LeAnna Ceglia and her court, Melanie Abercrombie,
Tonya Dubrul and Alicia Kimes are the most beautiful women with
intelligence and athletic prowess I have ever seen; yet their
photos and story is smaller than that of the most wanted. Not that
Luis Barajas, wanted for substance abuse; Jay Patterson, wanted for
cruelty to a child; Jon Williams, wanted for felony threat to
terrorize; and Max Zambrano, wanted for felony spousal abuse,
aren’t a handsome group in a Nick Nolte mug shot sort of way. My
question though is why give them more space than the best and
brightest that San Benito County has to offer? To paraprase the
last line in
”
King Kong,
”
it wasn’t bullets that killed the beast; it was beauty. I know
the feeling. Aye chee waa waa!

When George Carlin first started out I thought he was the funniest man alive next to Jimmy Carter and his brother, Billy. My favorite routine was always the Hippy Dippy Weatherman and his sportscaster who gave the baseball scores: 5 to 3, 6 to 2 and in the National League 4 to 1, 5 to 4 and finally 11 to 9. Carlin will, of course, go to heaven as I know that God loves those who no matter how seemingly irreverent make us think and laugh as opposed to those wrapped around religion that stifles all that should be Christian or good. Not necessarily exclusive. Aye chee waa waa.
When will Hollister teens ever learn? That 17-year-old girl is caught stealing Jose Cuervo Tequila, Southern Comfort whiskey and a bottle of Jagermeister liquor from Save Mart in Hollister. Shocking! When will kids ever learn that Jagermeister isn’t a real man’s liquor. But I blame her parents.
“Kit Kittridge: An American Girl” movie opens two weeks before its national opening here exclusively at the Grove Theater in Beverly Hills. All seats for this kids’ movie are $20. Which I guess is chump change for the Beverly Hills crowd. Oh wait! They also advertise the $20 movie ticket for the kids’ movie includes a “free” gift. At $20 a ticket believe me the “free” gift isn’t free. Just like freedom … note to Barack followers.
The majority of California voters didn’t take my word for the gambling casino windfalls run by a few rich Native Americans. Remember, they were going to kick back so much to the state and if you believed the press save California’s economy. Already one tribe (That’s the politically correct way of saying gambling bosses) has found a loophole that even a jerk like me saw coming and is now not paying the state its first payment of $30 million. We don’t need Arnold as governor in this Indian deal. We really need John Wayne. But just keep telling yourself folks that all minorities are good hearted.
Speaking of John Wayne, I was so happy when last week the American Film Institute made his “The Searchers” the best Western ever made. It is, and I know you’re tired of me bringing it up, but let me bore you again as once again I bring up San Juan Bautista’s “Vertigo.” The Alfred Hitchcock film with its exciting climax in the mission where I was baptized came in No. 1 in the top 10 mystery-suspense category.
Loved Pinnacle editor Melissa Flores’ grilling tip, fresh strawberries. Mine kept slipping through my Weber barbecue grate. Melissa also owes me for a half-gallon of Breyer’s ice cream as it melted faster than Obama’s wife on “The View.”
Speaking of Pinnacle editors doing double duty why is Mark Paxton against naked bird watching? After all, isn’t his column called Naturally? Who’s on first? Naturally.
I don’t know about this Hollister deputy but he, according to a news report, stops a car and the first thing he notices is “a large bulge in the man’s pocket.” Aye chee waa waa!
