Swaying to Alan Jackson

Birthday wishes go out to Rose Prewett, Bob Schmidt, Ross Ketchum, Hec Hurley and my dad, all of whom celebrated birthdays last week. A surprise birthday party was held for Rose last Tuesday evening and another party for Bob Saturday afternoon. Many South County residents headed over to the coast near Half Moon Bay last weekend to participate in the Driscoll Ranch Rodeo in La Honda. Some of those attending the event included the Hurley family, J.W. and Candace Brewen, Blake and Jessika Willougby, Mike and Paty Raine, Aaron Chavez, Nessen Schmidt, Mike and Brandi Garza, John and Jenel Flook, Andy and Wacey Barrington, Audra, Garrett and Tucker Bourdet, Michael Ricotti-Enz, Ross Ketchum and his fiance, Amanda, Casey and Colleen Sabin and Sandy and Kelsi Silva.

The weather was great over there; La Honda is a great place to go to beat the heat. We all had a good time and everyone seemed to have a little luck in most of their events. Looks like that rodeo may become an annual event for a lot of South County folks as it is so much fun and a great place to get away from the hot South County weather.

Just before we left for La Honda on Friday, I heard my name announced on the radio as a lucky winner of two Alan Jackson tickets for his concert at the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles last Sunday night. Luckily, Tamra Barrington also won two tickets, so I was able to get Todd to actually go to a concert with me since Andy and Tamra went along too. It was a great show, even though we were very tired after the long weekend at La Honda! Funny thing though, it was actually cold down there! I went dressed for the warm weather usually found in Paso Robles and I was freezing by the time the concert ended! But it was a great show and thanks to radio station KRKC, we had a great time.

While we were at the fair, we ran into former South County residents Steve and Leslie Bernal and their kids, Jennifer, Jace and Jordan. It seems South County definitely makes good baseball players as Jordan made the Paso Robles All-Star team and was the closing pitcher in one of the best games of their tournament; he helped the team win the game with his pitching skills. His parents were very proud of him and rightfully so! Way to go Jordan, keep up the good work!

The fair runs through this weekend and it is a lot of fun, so be sure to head down there to take in the action. The ranch rodeo will be held next weekend so there should be some good entertainment down there over the weekend as well.

Have a great week, and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
