Adult education classes

HOLLISTER – Free evening classes for adults ages 18 and older in Beginning ESL, Beginning/Intermediate ESL, Advanced ESL and an Adult Diploma Program begin at the Nash Road campus of San Benito High School on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Students can join at anytime. Register by showing up to class. Adult diploma students should bring their most current high school transcript to the first class.

Grab a broom

HOLLISTER – The downtown Hollister fall cleanup campaign resumes on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Local organizations and individuals are invited to put a fresh face on the downtown area in this event, sponsored by the Hollister Downtown Association and Norcal Waste Systems.

Workforce meeting set

HOLLISTER – San Benito County Behavioral Health is holding a workforce education and training program stakeholders meeting on Thursday, Sept. 18, 10 am to noon. The meeting will take place at San Benito County Behavioral Health, 1131 San Felipe Road, Hollister. This meeting is open to all interested participants.

Good ship Hunley anchors at Bolado

HOLLISTER – Civil War Days return to the San Benito County Historical Park, a mile south of Tres Pinos off Hwy. 25, on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 28. This year’s event features a replica of the L. Hunley, a Confederate submersible that was the first submarine to sink a warship.

Historical re-enactors will stage mock battles at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, 3 pm. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Living history demonstrations will continue throughout both days. Admission is $5 per person, with children under 10 free. Parking is an additional $3 per car. The event is sponsored by the San Benito County Historical Society and the National Civil War Association.

Tutors available

HOLLISTER – Club Ed offers tutors for all grade levels in all subjects on a private basis in the high school library Monday through Thursdays from 3-4 or from 6-8.
