The San Benito girls soccer team scored three second-half goals en route to a 3-1 comeback victory on Thursday at North Monterey County.

North County surprised the Lady ‘Balers early on, and pocketed the first half’s only goal in the 30th minute.

“This team came out pretty strong,” San Benito coach Ben Alvarez said. “They really surprised us at the beginning.”

But San Benito regrouped in the second half, delivered an “outstanding” passing performance, and put 28 shots on North County’s net.

Daniela Ocampo scored twice, once in the 60th minute and again in the 65th minute, and Hannah Cobb found the back of the net in the 80th minute to supply the Lady ‘Balers with a 3-1 lead.

“In the second half, the girls figured it out,” Alvarez said.

San Benito (2-0) will play in the Watsonville Tournament on Saturday at 3 p.m., and again on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
