The Hollister City Council on Monday is set to consider a possible removal of Parks Commissioner Don Kelley because the mayor contends his more recent role on the county’s equivalent panel is a conflict of interest.
The council postponed the decision for a week after it had been placed on last Monday’s agenda after Kelley notified officials he had a prior commitment to attend that night.
Kelley has said the only possible reason he’s being asked to resign is over enforcement of safety rules at the skate park. After bringing it up to the mayor, he has said he hasn’t gotten a straight answer.
Also at Monday’s 6 p.m. special council meeting at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St., officials are set to consider new contracts for mid-management, confidential, executive management employees with the city.
Council members have awarded pay increases for several unions in light of additional funds from the Measure T sales-tax hike while hiring new workers to boost services.
