Hollister 11U baseball team outscores opponents 31-3 at
Halloween Bash last weekend
SUNNYVALE
The Hollister Junior ‘Balers 11U baseball team finished first at the Halloween Bash tournament last weekend for the second year in a row at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale, and have suddenly hit their stride having won three straight tournaments.
Last weekend’s win also marks the fourth victory in six tournaments for Hollister, which saw contributions from all 11 players at the Halloween Bash.
Adam Gonzales pitched six solid innings, racking up two victories in the three games played, while another win went to Andrew Sotelo.
Macen Schwehr, Vincent Parker, Daniel Hopkins and Tyler Biersdorff also pitched well in the tournament.
At the plate, standout hitters included Sotelo (.556), Vincent Parker (.500), and Jose Rodriguez (.429), each of whom delivered high batting averages over the weekend.
Biersdorff contributed at the plate, too, when he hit a three-run triple in the championship game against Petaluma Baseball. Davey Werolin also hit in the clutch throughout the weekend, while Gonzales connected on a key double in the first game against The Cru’s Crushers Black.
Other contributions came from Josh Tonascia, who had a sacrifice fly; Yurixa Gonzalez, who had some outstanding defensive plays; Hopkins, who delivered an important single in the second game against the Livermore Dirtbags; and Joe Coffelt, who scored a couple of runs.
The Junior ‘Balers, which are coached by CR Gonzales, Jose Rodriquez and Anthony Sotelo, outscored their opponents by a comfortable 31-3 margin at the Halloween Bash.
