San Benito was trailing 3-0 at halftime, loses 3-2 to defending
CCS champs

The San Benito boys soccer team is slowly putting the pieces together, and although the team remains searching for its first win, it may be only a matter of time now.
On Monday, the Haybalers lost 3-2 to Pajaro Valley, but they made a halftime adjustment that nearly supplied them with the game-tying goal in the waning minutes.
Trailing Pajaro Valley 3-nil at the break, San Benito coach Ramiro Ramos decided to move a third forward up, and it netted the ‘Balers two goals.
“It worked out,” Ramos said. “We made a couple of adjustments. I put that third forward up and we came back with a little attack. But we ran out of time.
“We missed a pretty clear header that would have tied it 3-3 at the very end. It was unlucky that we didn’t put it in there.”
Sophomore mid Andres Hurtado had both goals for San Benito, one in the 65th minute and another in the 72nd minute.
The close loss should be something to build upon, though, as Pajaro Valley (2-0) is the defending CCS Division II champions, and compiled a 22-2-2 record last season.
The Haybalers (0-3) will host King City on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m.
