Homecoming week is under way at San Benito High School, featuring fun events culminating in a downtown parade with 44 floats, a football game against Palma and, of course, the homecoming dance.

Homecoming adviser Amy Henneman says students will have opportunities to dress up to show their spirit and take photos with mascot “Hank the Haybaler” during the entire homecoming week.

She also noted how teachers Laurie Cottrell and Brandon Swift will lead the parade, starting at 2 p.m. Friday, as grand marshals.

The parade will last about an hour and will be followed by a smaller pre-game parade on school grounds with the four class floats and the “Royalty Cars” carrying those nominated for homecoming king and queen.

The homecoming game against Palma will start at 7:30 p.m., with a halftime show featuring fireworks and the crowning of the homecoming royalty.

The dance is 8 p.m. Saturday.
