Gilroy – Ohlone College exploded for seven runs in the 10th inning Wednesday, taking advantage of a crucial Gavilan error that helped the Renegades to a 13-6 Coast Conference win.
Josh Torrisse’s two-run single highlighted a four-run eighth that allowed the Rams to tie the game at 6. Gavilan had a golden opportunity to win it in the ninth, putting runners on first and third with one out. But the Rams were unable to score.
“We had our chances,” Gavilan coach Neal Andrade said. ” We just weren’t able to push across a run when we needed it. We had an error in the eighth on a play that could have ended the inning and then things went array from there.”
The Rams (9-17 overall, 3-9 conference) face San Jose City College at 6pm Thursday at PAL Stadium.

Fremont – Tiffany Chan tossed a two-hitter and Ohlone College scored all its runs in three innings Wednesday to defeat Gavilan 11-1 in a Coast Conference game.
Jen McBain staked the Rams to a 1-0 lead with a home run in the first inning. After falling behind in the count 1-2, McBain worked the count full and then laced her homer.
Ohlone scored two runs in its half of the first, three in the second and six in the fourth to pin the loss on Haylie Cloud. The Rams were hurt by four errors as they had trouble coping with the aggressiveness of the Renegades on the basepaths.
Cloud had the only other Gavilan hit when she singled in the fourth after Tiffany McIntosh had reached on an error. With runners at first and second and none out in the fourth, that was the Rams next best opportunity to score. However, two fielder’s choices and a put out at the plate ended the threat.
Gavilan (8-20 overall, 3-11 conference) is at home at 3pm Thursday to host Chabot College.
