San Benito High School is about to bring the pink out in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer and to support local students fighting it.
The proceeds from the sale of pink roses, temporary tattoos and bracelets sold by the Associated Student Body on Oct. 9 will go toward the “Hope for a Cure Memorial Educational Scholarship Fund,” which benefits local students affected by breast cancer.
“What I like about this event is it brings awareness to the cause for breast cancer,” said Catalina Lemos, the high school’s student activities director.
Throughout the day, students will strut their stuff inpink regalia and buy pink trinkets—with proceeds going to the scholarship fund—during the school day and at the Friday night football game.
Currently, pink T-shirts are available at the Student Payment Center, Lemos explained in an email to the Free Lance. The pink roses, temporary tattoos and bracelets offered on campus during the school day will be available at the game, along with pink pom-poms.
