San Bruno – Skyline College took advantage of Gavilan pitching wildness Saturday to post an 18-2 Coast Conference win.
The Trojans outhit the Rams only 11-9 but were the recipients of 11 walks and three hit batters.
“You’re not going to win many ballgames doing that,” Gavilan coach Neal Andrade said. “We only made on error, which is a positive. But when you make only one error and give up 18 runs you know something’s not right.”
Seth Hudson’s RBI double staked the Rams (9-16 overall, 3-8 conference) to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Skyline tied the game in the bottom of the first and then scored seven in the second to break it open. Gavilan scored its second run in the seventh on a balk.
Hudson went 3 for 4 with two doubles to lead the Rams.
Gavilan hosts Ohlone College in a Coast Conference game at 2pm today.
