Tres Pinos – There’s more than horses out at the San Benito County Fairgrounds today.

That’s because Circus Gatti is coming to Bolado Park.

The three-ring circus will perform shows at 4:30pm and 7pm.

San Benito County Fairgrounds Manager Kelly Ferreira said the circus has been coming for the better part of the past two decades.

“We appreciate them coming every year,” Ferreira said. “They’re a good group to deal with and it’s a good event for the community.”

Ferreira said the circus is an excellent family event.

Each show is expected to last more than two hours, with a brief intermission.

The Gatti Circus features horses, tigers, elephants, acrobats, jugglers, a high-wire act and clowns, according to its Web site.

After performing at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville on Saturday and Sunday, the show packed up and headed east for a one-day stop in San Benito County.

The Hemet, Calif.-based circus also stopped in Monterey County on Friday. The company operates 450 circuses in more than 150 towns 10 months a year, according to its Web site.

Gatti Circus was founded by a retired army major named Matthew J. Gatti in 1963. The circus is now owned and operated by MJG Entertainment, Inc.

Children 12 and younger can see the circus for free if accompanied by an adult. Admission for teenagers ages 13 to 17 years old is $16. Adult tickets cost $20 and seniors aged 60 and older will pay $16.
