Stay hydrated to stay on the game
Have you ever wondered why you see so many tour players taking
little sips of water during a round? You can observe all types of
athletes carrying around bottled water; people in all facets of
life for that matter. The smart ones are not doing it because they
are thirsty. They are doing it to keep the brain functioning at
peek performance.

We have all had those days when we seemed to be playing in a cloud, and one bad shot led to another and another and well, you get the picture. There may be an easy place to start looking for the solution to this problem. Now that summer is here and the temperatures are climbing, keeping our body hydrated during a round of golf should be a priority.
The human body is composed of over 70% water. Our brain sends signals to different parts of our body using electrical currents. When we deplete the water levels in our bodies, those messages are slowed down enough to affect our performance on the golf course, or for that matter anywhere decisions have to be made. If you become thirsty, the damage has all ready been done and you have let your body become dehydrated.
Small drinks of water during a round of golf will allow your brain to talk to your body in the most efficient way it can. Here is what you do: the night before a round, take a 24 to 32 oz. bottle of water and put it in your freezer. The next morning you have ice that will slowly melt during your round. Try this and see how it improves your decision-making out on the course. By the way ice in a Bloody Mary does not count as drinking water. Play well.
