The Crimson Crusader called up Hollister Associate Civil Engineer David Rubcic to find out what could be done to fix the sidewalk. Rubcic said repairs to the sidewalk in question are not part of any of the city’s current projects. However, he promised to forward the complaint and problem to city maintenance crew and try to get something done as soon as possible.

Will Company’s fine Help Ease CIty Budget Woes?
Our next Red Phone caller, a Hollister woman, asked the Crimson Crusader if the money Natural Selection Foods was fined last week for violating wastewater ordinances could be used to repair roads and add more police. The answer: No.
Half of the $95,000 fine the company was ordered to pay will go toward a new wastewater reclamation project in San Juan Bautista. The other half will go to the state Water Resources Control Board. Sorry, dearest caller, no road or public safety dollars there.
