Hollister – Locals hoping to bend the ear of their state assemblywoman will get two chances today.

Main Street Bistro will be hosting Assemblywoman Anna Caballero from 10:30am to noon today. Robert Rivas, who runs Caballero’s district office in Salinas, said there’s no set agenda for the event. Caballero just wants to talk with her San Benito constituents, he said.

People should bring their ideas and questions to the meeting. Rivas said that if there aren’t too many people, there could be opportunities for attendees to have one-on-one conversations with Caballero.

Main Street Bistro is located at 650 San Benito Street, Suite 110.

At 12:30pm, Caballero will be heading over to the senior community at 190 East Park Street, where Hollister resident Ellen Newman has arranged a meeting between the assemblywoman, Police Chief Jeff Miller, County Mental Health Director Alan Yamamoto, County Superintendent of Schools Tim Foley and any interested locals who show up.

Newman said she wants to fight Hollister’s gang problem by starting more after-school programs, and she wants Caballero to help.
