Hollister – A Toyota Corolla collided with a Plymouth Minivan on Thursday evening on Frazier Lake Road causing a rollover that left some children in the van with minor injuries.
The collision occurred just north of Shore Road, said officer Nick Baker of the Gilroy-Hollister office of the California Highway Patrol. The CHP is still investigating, but Baker said the minivan had stopped or almost stopped to make a left turn onto a dirt road when the Corolla struck it from behind.
There were five people – including three children – in the minivan and one in the Corolla, Baker said. The minivan rolled over, but when Baker arrived on the scene, everyone had already left the vehicle.
Two passersby who appeared to be health care professionals had stopped to comfort the children.
“There were lots of complaints of pain,” Baker said. “The children had visible cuts on their faces.”
The injured parties were taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital and Saint Louise Regional Hospital. Baker said he hasn’t heard from the hospitals, but he doesn’t expect any major injuries.
“I’m just glad everyone’s OK,” he said. “When you get to a scene like that and it’s just chaos … you just hope everyone’s OK.”
