Hollister – An 18-year-old Hollister man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of forcible rape and sex with a minor, both felonies, the Hollister Police Department reported.

The man was arrested in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old Hollister girl Sept. 1, said police officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department. An officer pulled the man over for a traffic violation at 10pm Saturday at the intersection of San Benito and Second streets, Betanio said.

“Once detectives found out about this case they issued a ‘Be On the Lookout,'” Betanio said of the suspect.

The girl knew the man and had gone home with him after being out with friends Sept. 1, Betanio said. Authorities suspect the man raped the girl with force shortly after they arrived back at his apartment, Betanio said.

At 2:43am Sept. 1, the girl told officers she had been raped, Betanio said.
