The San Benito County Probation Department made five arrests over the weekend as part of a compliance check effort aimed at sexual offenders, according to an announcement from the agency.
The pre-Halloween compliance effort was organized by the probation department, sheriff’s office, Hollister police, the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the Santa Clara County SAFE Task Force.
Officers conducted compliance checks on sexual offenders on probation, parole or requiring registration. There were 105 offenders checked on, and five arrests were made.
Three of those arrests were due to registration requirements. A fourth was for meth possession and a probation violation, and a fifth was for the same along with possession of paraphernalia.
A statement did not release information on the suspects. The Free Lance requested the information.
