San Juan Bautista – Senior Emily Deleissegues delivered a knockout performance to put the Anzar girls volleyball team on the verge of clinching a Central Coast Section playoff berth.
Deleissegues had 13 kills, 11 aces, 27 digs and three blocks to pace the Hawks’ 25-21, 23-25, 25-9, 25-20 win over Carmel on Monday.
The win moves Anzar to 17-5 overall and 11-3 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and if Anzar can win on the road against Pacific Grove on Wednesday it will clinch second place and seal the automatic berth to the CCS playoffs.
After dropping the second game, Anzar took control of the match with its game three win. Deleissegues served 14 straight points during one stretch to help the Hawks take over.
“Nobody could handle her serves,” co-head coach Mike Dorney said.
Senior middle blocker Jessica Staley also had a solid game with 13 kills and four blocks.
