San Jose City College defeated Gavilan 30-23, 30-23, 30-18 in a Coast Conference Southern Division contest, sending the Rams to their fifth straight loss.

Once again, Gavilan was without Heather Harms who was out of town on personal business but who is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday in the Rams’ home match against De Anza College.

“We’re doing our best,” Gavilan coach Stephanie Pascucci said. “We’re playing tough programs that have been established a lot longer than us, but we’re hanging in there. Hopefully, we’ll do better in the second half of league.”

Jenny Fowles led the Rams (4-10 overall, 0-4 conference) with five kills, 12 digs and four aces. Shanna Silveira had six kills and 13 digs, and Janet Unciano had 16 digs.
