Fall is definitely in the air these days, it was chilly and wet last weekend, and there is supposed to be more of the same this week. I love it though, perfect football weather!

The county fair kept people busy all week long. Between showing animals, the junior rodeo, sorting, roping and calf brandings, seems like people had to be there all week. Congratulations to Joseph Nino and Brody Sans for winning the kids calf branding on Sunday, way to go Joseph on winning your first time entered! Mattie Barrington and Annie Nino won the Junior Calf Branding while Vern Scattini, Todd Sans, J.W. Brewen and Dean Bell won the open calf branding.

The much-anticipated California Country TV show, featuring a segment on Bitterwater Tully School will finally air this week. The show is scheduled to run the weekend of October 6-8 on the RFD Channel. If you don’t have cable, it should be on your local channels as well. We got a copy of the segment and have already watched it. They did a great job with the segment. Be sure to check it out this weekend.

The Bitterwater Lady Badgers played two volleyball games last week, each against Mission School from Soledad. Soledad both of the games were really close, but, the Badgers pulled off the wins in the end. Way to go Badgers! The girls will play again this week, on Tuesday against San Lorenzo and on Thursday against Soledad Main Street Middle School. Thursday’s game will be at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds Expo Building at 4 p.m.. Be sure to come root our Badgers on for another win.

If anyone has any ideas, names or numbers of whom we can call to come pick up the trash that was dumped along Hwy. 25, please let me know. I contacted several county and state authorities two weeks ago. I was passed from one agency to another before someone from Cal Trans finally called me back. Their agency was apparently too busy to come out as they were doing a big pave job at the time, but would come out as soon as they finished that job. Well, two weeks later, that trash is still sitting there but is now starting to get scattered all over the road again. We already picked it up, bagged it up and stacked it up nicely for them once, I’ll be darned if we’re going to do it again. It really disgusts me that people are too lazy or too cheap to take their garbage to the dump. Like I said before, how would they like it if I dumped my trash on their front lawn? Come on people, have a little common decency and respect for the country.

Birthday wishes go out to Kasey Hurley who celebrated the big 3-0 last Wednesday. She celebrated several times last week. She had a birthday lunch at McClintocks in Paso Robles along with friends Cynnie O’Connor, Kuulei Flores, Kanani Barbree, me and her mom, Sandy Silva. That evening, a birthday dinner was held at The Grill in King City. Joining her for dinner included Vern and Joann Scattini, Lynette Hurley, Gregg and Sami Jo Johnsen, Brandi Garza, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Jessica Silva, Shane Higgins, Sandy Silva, Val Basetti and me and Todd. On Friday, she headed north to San Francisco to take in a day of races at Golden Gate Fields. Sounds like a few good celebrations to me! Happy Birthday Kasey!

Until next week, keep a fire in the fireplace to keep warm, and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
