Hollister City Council members Monday approved giving away $92,050 to 12 local nonprofit organizations.
Council members unanimously approved reviving the nonprofit giveaway program with the slate of donations.
Councilmen Karson Klauer and Ray Friend comprised a subcommittee that recommended the donations. Friend is active in the organization, the local American Legion chapter, receiving the second-most amount of money from the city.
Nonprofits set to receive funds include the following:
Girls Inc. of the Central Coast-San Benito County: $3,750
San Benito Arts Council: $7,000
Jovenes de Antano: $25,000
Young Readers Program: $6,500
Court Appointed Special Advocates:$5,000
Community Solutions:$10,000
Advocacy:$3,500
Women’s Club of Hollister: $3,000
Chamberlain’s Children’s Services: $3,300
Friends of the Library: $10,000
Mexican American Committee on Education: $3,000
American Legion Post 69: $12,000
