Hallelujah! It’s raining!
We got hit with a wallop of a storm last week, finally! I was
beginning to think it was never going to rain, but rain it did last
weekend. The grass should really start to grow now, what a great
Christmas present.

We got right at an inch at home while the gauge over in Bitterwater recorded 1.30 inches of rain. Cynnie O’Connor reported an inch on Saturday night, while Marianne Madson reported .80 inches at their place in San Lucas.
Kanani, Chase and Clay Barbree and Cynnie O’Connor went to Hollister last Sunday to pick up their Christmas tree’s from Bourdet’s Tree Farm. I can’t believe Kanani and the boys actually talked Cynnie into getting a tree this early. Cynnie usually waits till a few days before Christmas, then, takes the tree out on Christmas night! Bah Humbug, Cynnie, the Christmas spirit hit you early this year! They did comment again on the wonderful service they received at the tree farm. Seems Kyle Prewett is a very efficient and friendly employee there.
Bill and Robin Rist beat the rain as they branded their calves last Wednesday at their place. Those helping Bill and Robin included: J.W. Brewen, Rich Casey, Vern and Joann Scattini, John and Marianne Madson, Curtis Carroll, Tracie Eggleston, Gabe Williams and myself.
The Lady Badgers Basketball season opened last Saturday in Gonzales. The girls had an awesome game, beating the Fairview Middle School Warriors 25-5. It looked like it was going to be a shutout as the girls’ defense held the Warriors to no points until the end of the game. Each of the girls had a lot of playing time, including Taylor Jo Hurley and Kassie O’Connor. Kassie made a great basket and Taylor dribbled herself out of a mob of girls that no one could believe she did! Thanks to the great coaching of Kanani Barbree and Lisa Hearne, the girls are off to a quick start.
Les and Betty Sans spent a few days in Vegas last week, taking in a little NFR action. Blair Strohn competed in the Dummy Roping again this year, but I haven’t heard how she did yet. Also heading to Vegas for a few days was Colleen Sabin and John Donati.
